According to insider sources, Vikas Shankar Kharage, a 1994-batch IAS officer from the Maharashtra cadre, is being considered as a consensus candidate for the post of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner. Kharage is believed to enjoy goodwill across political leadership and administrative circles. He is seen as having close working relations with both Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. If finalized, his appointment could bring administrative stability to India’s richest civic body, which manages large infrastructure and urban development projects.
