Rajasthan Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, IAS 1991 batch (Rajasthan cadre), is prepared for an early transfer to the Centre as Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, effective December 1, 2025. Pant, who took charge as Chief Secretary on January 1, 2024, subsequently serving as Health Secretary at the Centre, is the second Rajasthan Chief Secretary to be shifted to the Centre mid-tenure—following Rajiv Mehrishi in 2014. Scheduled to retire in February 2027, Pant’s move signals strong central government control over Rajasthan’s bureaucracy. Pant was known as the vital link between the Centre and Rajasthan.
