Health Security Cess Bill, 2025 Introduced

The government has introduced the Health Security Cess Bill, 2025, effective December 1, 2025, replacing the existing GST compensation cess on select sin goods such as pan masala. The new framework introduces a machine-based monthly cess along with higher excise duties on tobacco products, aimed at sustaining revenue levels following tax rationalization while strengthening health-related funding.
