End of VIP Culture and Tech Integration in Judiciary
Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud Kant has directed an end to “VIP culture” in the judiciary by discontinuing midnight hearings and out-of-turn listings, even for senior advocates. The move is expected to strengthen public trust in judicial equality, though resistance from sections of the bar is anticipated. Parallelly, judicial and policing reforms are accelerating, with 83% of police stations now equipped with CCTV systems. There are also indications that e-Courts Phase III (2023–2027) may be expanded to include virtual mediation in tribunals, potentially resolving up to 10 lakh cases annually.
