Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra Selected as CMD of POWERGRID

Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra, currently serving as Director (Projects) at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), has been selected for the position of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the company.

The selection was made at a meeting of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) held on December 13, 2025, during which nine candidates were interviewed for the top post. Upon formal approval and assumption of charge, Burra will lead POWERGRID, India’s premier transmission utility, responsible for planning, implementation, and operation of the national power transmission network.

His selection reflects continuity of leadership and deep project execution experience at a time when India’s power transmission infrastructure is expanding rapidly to support renewable integration and grid stability.
