Andhra Pradesh May See Two or Three Chief Secretaries in 2026
The Andhra Pradesh government has extended the tenure of Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand by three months, from 1 December 2025 to 28 February 2026. Meanwhile, bureaucrats are speculating whether G. Sai Prasad, slated to succeed Vijayanand, will also get an extension. Sai Prasad, currently Special Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department and Executive Officer Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, is scheduled to retire on 31 May 2026. The government has formally appointed him as Chief Secretary effective 1 March 2026, but discussions continue on whether he will receive an extension beyond his retirement to ensure continuity in the state administration. The exact duration of any further extension remains uncertain, as officials weigh the need for smooth functioning of Andhra Pradesh’s bureaucratic machinery.
