Ports Secretary Inaugurates and Lays Foundation for ₹193 Crore Projects at Deendayal Port
Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, paid an official visit to Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla. He was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the CISF unit. During the visit, Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority, briefed him on the port’s performance, operational achievements, and ongoing development initiatives.
A major highlight of the visit was the inauguration and foundation stone laying of multiple development projects with a total outlay of ₹193 crore. These include land reclamation for a shipyard facility, coastal road connectivity to NH-141, a dome-shaped storage godown, pipeline infrastructure, berth upgrades, residential quarters, administrative facilities, a shopping complex, and a CSR-related police community hall. The Secretary also inaugurated a fleet of green Volvo electric vehicle loaders and awarded the Letter of Award to Thermax for India’s first 5 TPD green methanol facility at the port. A stakeholders’ meeting was also held during the visit.
