Indian Army — 2047 Vision & Transformation Plan

The Army has rolled out a three-phase transformation agenda under General Upendra Dwivedi, aiming for a “future-ready force” by 2047: “Hop” by 2032, “Step” by 2037, and “Jump” by 2047. The roadmap emphasises four strategic “springboards”: Atmanirbharta (self-reliance via indigenization), Anusandhan (R&D and innovation—AI, cyber, quantum, autonomous systems), Anukulan (ecosystem adaptation), and Ekikaran (military-civil fusion). The transformation picks up momentum after 2025, declared the “Year of Reforms” by the Defence Ministry, building on successes like Operation Sindoor as proof of capability enhancement. The plan is expected to significantly accelerate modernisation, tech absorption, and automated systems integration—setting the stage for faster promotion tracks and greater emphasis on technical roles in the future.
