ECI Prepares for 2026 Assembly Elections by Appointing Expenditure Observers

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated preparations for the upcoming five assembly elections next year. Letters have been sent to various ministries of finance and tax-related services to requisition officers. These officers will serve as expenditure observers in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry.

The observers will monitor political funding, election expenses, and compliance with financial regulations, ensuring transparency in the electoral process. The initiative is part of ECI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen election integrity and prevent malpractices.
