Air Marshal Yalla Umesh joins as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, IAF Maintenance Command

Air Marshal Yalla Umesh has assumed charge as 39th AOC-in-C of the Indian Air Force Maintenance Command. A ‘Category A’ aeronautical engineer with 37 years of service, he brings extensive experience from roles across combat, transport, and specialist fleets. He succeeds Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, who retired recently, marking a generational leadership transition at a critical support arm of IAF. Umesh’s appointment is expected to boost fleet maintenance, engineer reforms, and indigenization efforts within the IAF going forward.
