AAI signs JV Agreement with State Government for development of a Greenfield airport in Nagchala, near Mandi in Himachal Pradesh

Airports Authority of India signed a Joint Venture Agreement on 25 th April,2022 with Government of Himachal Pradesh for development of a Greenfield airport in Nagchala, near Mandi District. The proposed airport will be developed through a Joint Venture Company Wherein Government of HP will hold 51% equity and remaining 49% per cent equity will be held by AAI. The airport shall have a unidirectional runway capable of handling A-320 aircraft. The Joint Venture Agreement was signed in the presence of Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, HMCA; Shri Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister (Himanchal Pradesh), Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, AAI and Shri Ram Subhag Singh, Chief Secretary, GoHP. Other senior officials of State Government, Ministry of Civil Aviation and AAI were present during the signing ceremony of Joint Venture Agreement. The projected land requirement for airport is 515 acres approx. and the project is
estimated to cost around Rs 900 crore excluding the cost of land. There are three airports i.e. Shimla, Kullu, & Kangra and 5 heliports i.e. Kangnidhar, Shimla, Rampur, Baddi, and SASE(Manali) in Himachal Pradesh that are developed or being developed which would give a massive boost to tourism industry of the state once completed.
